Ray of hope for the Communist parties in Karnataka : Won 287 seats in rural local body election

Karnataka is a province in the south western region of India. It is one of the largest state in Southern part of India. In Karnataka, elections to the rural local bodies (Panchayat election) were held recently. The communist parties, CPI(M) and CPI have won a considerable amount of seats this time providing progressive alternative in Karnataka politics by winning 287 seats together. Out of which CPI(M) have won 231 seats and CPI have won 56 seats.

CPI(M) will assume Presidentship in a total of five Panchayats including in three in Bagepally (Chikballapura district) and two in Gulbarga district. CPI acquired President post in two Panchayets by winning the majority of the seats.

Both CPI(M) and CPI with its constant reach out to the rural masses have increased its number to considerable amount in this election. Strategy of the Communist parties to nominate youth in huge number has worked well also.

Following are the district wise numbers of victorious candidates backed by CPI(M) and CPI in this Panchayat elections:

2. Kalaburgi: 37 seats

3. Koppal: 21 seats

4. Uttar Kannada: 14 seats

5. Udduppi: 11 seats

6. Yadagiri: 11 seats
