The 8th Party Congress is All About Changes and Major Shifts For the Communist Party Of Cuba

The 8th party Congress of the Communist Party in Cuba reflected major changes and shifts in power. Inaugurated on the 16th of April, 2021, the four-day party congress took some very interesting decisions that can bring real important changes to the future of the country as well as in the arena of the left politics. This 8th party congress can lead the world in terms of mixing the questions of identity politics with the leftist agenda. The party congress decided to bring forward the blacks, mulattos and women to the frontline. The 8th party congress took the resolution to increase the numbers of blacks, women and mulattoes as the members of the Communist Party in Cuba. By consolidating multiple identities under the left banner, the Communist Party of Cuba can be an example to 21st-century socialism practitioners. Currently, the party holds 54.2% women cadres and 47.7% Blacks and Mulattos. It will be significant if the numbers get increased.

However, the most interesting part of the party congress took place on the very first day of the congress. Raul Castro, the successor of Fidel Castro in the party, stepped down as the first secretary of the Communist Party in Cuba. The current president of the nation Mr Miguel Diaz Canel replaced him as the first secretary of the party. As per the words of Mr Castro, 'It is a well-thought decision and not a petty improvisation.' This decision on the very first day made it clear that the party wanted to shift the baton to the hands of the new generation. The time seemed also important. It was the sixty years of the great Cuban revolution. The historic figures lived through the time and enjoyed every bit of it. They were the reminiscents of it. But now the time has come to spread the spirit of the revolution in the minds of the most trusted and devoted cadres. Those cadres, who are young and can carry the legacy of the revolution for the upcoming years. Hence, this 8th party congress decided to indulge the youths in the Communist party.

Apart from these changes, the Communist party discussed the goals of sustainable socialist development. They were concerned with the socialist model of social and economic development in the country. Sustainable Socialism was their aim, and they highlighted key steps to achieve this goal in the country. Once again this model seemed pretty interesting. Cuba is a country that invests most of its GDP in human development. In today's world, human development is the place, which is being ignored seriously and intentionally by the big capitalist economies. In this scenario, the successful implementation of sustainable socialism can reinforce the importance of human development in the world. The inefficiencies and the structural problems in the economy were also being discussed. The party congress took resolutions to solve these issues. The tackle of the Covid-19 pandemic by the country is already being praised by the United Nations. The economic and medical planning by the country helped its people to fight against the fatal virus. As the second wave is returning, the leaders in the party congress discussed key measures and steps to fight once again this fatal virus.
